Robert Redford founded the Sundance Institute in 1981 to foster independence, risk-taking, and new voices in American film. That year, 10 emerging filmmakers were invited to the Sundance Resort in the mountains of Utah. Today, a team works year-round to support groundbreaking work and emerging talent in independent film. The 2024 Short Film Tour was curated from the 2004 festival, including three award-winning titles. The short films are a testament to the unique storytelling potential that the format holds. Audiences can enjoy a mix of fiction, documentary, and animated shorts that are funny, sad, inspiring, and full of strong characters.
Driven by innovation and experimentation, the Short Film Program seeks out filmmaking’s most original voices from around the world. *For mature audiences only. Films include themes of sex, sexuality, gender and violence.
